  • How many days should I stay at Casa La Pace?

We have a minimum stay of 2 nights. But we recommend several more to explore and enjoy the Serchio Valley. Many of our guests stay at Casa La Pace at least 5 days and lament that they didn’t stay longer.

  • Do I need a car?

Not at all! Ghivizzano has a train station which is within walking distance of Casa La Pace. It is on the Pisa-Aulla line and there are many trains each day. You can get to anywhere in Italy serviced by the train system (including Rome, Venice, Milan) with connections from our train station. There is also regular bus service in our valley. A car is required only if you want to explore the mountains, forests, and more remote hilltop towns nearby.

  • I don’t speak Italian. How will I communicate?

We were born and raised in Florida. We speak Italian. When you’re with one of us, you won’t need to know a word of Italian – though “Ciao” and a wave are universally welcomed.

  • I am not familiar with the Serchio Valley. What are some of the things I can do in your area?

Before you arrive, we are available to plan an itinerary for you. This might include Barga and Castelnuovo, historic towns nearby. Lucca and Pisa are easy daytrips, as are the Cinque Terre and Florence. Visit ur ‘Around Us’ page to get a more detailed list of things to do and places to see near us.

  • Do you have WiFi available?

Yes! We’ve made free WiFi available so you can stay connected, make the most of your internet needs, and share your Italian adventure with your friends and family

  • Do you have hairdryers?

Yes. All bathrooms have hairdryers. Keep in mind that if you bring your American hairdryer or curling iron and try using it may result in the Italian system burning / breaking them.

  • Are there laundry services nearby?

Yes. There are a couple of laundromats nearby.

  • Do you have vegan or vegetarian options for breakfast?

If you lets us know of your dietary neds before you arrive, we will have vegan or vegetarian options available for you in our breakfast buffet.
